Soil Engineering Geoservices welcome four new Graduates and a Student Placement to the Soils Team.

This September four new graduates joined Soil Engineering Geoservices across all the regions

Alistair Campbell and Harmohit Singh Rai join the Southern team working out of Camberley.

Sam Gregory joins the Scottish team working from Cleland facility.

Graduates Craig Judson and Michael Taylor and Student Placement Helena Ryan all join the Soil Engineering Team working out of the Leeds facility.

The new team members will attend a three day Induction Training Course held at the Leeds facility.

The course will cover:

  • The history and heritage of Soil Engineering Geoservices
  • An Introduction to the Groups Safety Culture and our behavioural safety system: HomeSafe
  • An introduction to the Company’s service offering and business streams
  • An explanation and tour of the Laboratory testing facility an introduction to the services we offer.
  • Two Day SALOSAR (Sampling and Logging of Soil and Rock) Course

Members of the Soil Engineering Management Team will deliver presentations on the various elements of the course. The SALOSAR Course will be facilitated by Matthew Baldwin assisted by Principal and Senior Engineering Geologists: Malcolm Townsley, Rob Rogers, Helen Dalton and Paul Rodgers.

A warm welcome is extended to all our new team members and we wish them each a safe, happy and rewarding career with Soil Engineering Geoservices.

Quality Results in Ground Engineering

We are excited to announce Matthew Baldwin, Technical Director at Soil Engineering Geoservices will be speaking at the AGS upcoming Quality Results in Ground Investigation seminar taking place on Wednesday 14th October 2015 at Hamilton House, London.

This year’s conference will focus on site investigation specifically for clients and consultants, what laboratories can provide and the importance of quality sampling.

Matthew will be talking on “Sample Extraction” and obtaining appropriate samples from ground investigation, understanding quality class and test requirements, together with the scheduling of laboratory testing. Matthew will highlight some of the common issues associated with the industry’s failure to routinely provide testing laboratories with samples fit for purpose and by extension the derivation of parameters required for design purposes.

Other confirmed guest speakers and presentation topics include;

  • Ensuring Quality of Testing in the Geotechnical Laboratory – Proficiency Testing and what goes Wrong – John Powell (Technical Director, Geolabs)
  • The replacement of BS1377 has begun – Roger Brown, (Associate Director, Laboratories – Fugro)
  • Sampling Standards – Chris Swainson, (Principle Engineer, Geotechnics)
  • Quality laboratory data – are consultants bovvered? Hugh Mallett, (Technical Director at Buro Happold Engineering)
  • Double Standards: Accreditation and Transition to New Standards – Graeme Thomas, (Assessment Manager UKAS)
  • Good Result/Bad Result – Chris Wallace, (Technical Manager, Geolabs)
