2121 London Road, Glasgow

Soil Engineering’s Ground Engineering Services were engaged to stabilise potentially problematic mine-workings within the Glasgow Ell Coal Seam.

The works were undertaken beneath existing retail units and an adjacent development site.

Access was maintained throughout to the retail units.

The 12-week contract was designed by geotechnical specialists from Arup and included the formation of over 1000 treatment holes to depths of c. 45m. Treatment was undertaken beneath existing buildings with inclined drilling at angles of up to 35 degrees from the vertical.

The site was undertaken by a team of 22 direct employees of Soil Engineering Ground Engineering Services.
