Dixon Avenue, Glasgow

Specialist drilling and grouting works were completed to stabilise abandoned mine-workings found beneath existing tenements in Govanhill, Glasgow.

The works were undertaken for Glasgow City Council who required maintained access for the residents of approximately 200 affected flats.

Intrusive work was completed from the highway, pavements and landscaped areas of the surrounding streets and internal courts of the flats. This in itself presented complication to the site works with the presence of abundant buried services surrounding the buildings. The Site was further complicated by the potential for subsidence and subsequent structural damage during stabilisation works.

The works were designed by Glasgow City Council and comprised the formation of 1400 No. treatment holes.
