Assistant Laboratory Technician

  • Reports to: Laboratory Manager

Main Purpose of the Job

To work within our busy Geotechnical Material Testing Laboratory, based in Leeds, preparing and testing soil and rock samples.

Key Tasks

  • To follow British Standard procedures for a variety of geotechnical tests.
  • To neatly and accurately record data.
  • To log and prepare samples for test.
  • To maintain a high quality standard of work at all times.
  • To meet deadlines and prioritise workload.

Knowledge and Experience required

No particular qualifications or experience are required as all training will be provided. However, the following would be desirable:

  • GCSEs or equivalent grades A-C in English and Maths.
  • Basic knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office.

The role will involve physical manual handling.

Physical Working Environment

The role will be full time, 37.5 hours a week over 5 days, based at our Laboratory in Leeds.
