Reservoir and Dam Remedial Works

In 1996 Soil Engineering carried out remedial grouting works on a section of the Barrow No. 3 Reservoir embankment situated South West of Bristol City Centre.
In 2003 Soil Engineering revisited the reservoir and carried out remedial grouting on a further four sections of the embankment clay core.
The works comprised:
* Location of clay core by trial pits
* Obtaining undisturbed samples of clay core by Competitor drilling rig.
* Testing undisturbed samples in the Soil Engineering laboratory to determine shear strength.
* Designing grout mix to have compatible shear strength to the clay core.
* Installing 305 tube a manchettes to depth of up to 19m.
* Carrying out 27000 injections of tube-a-manchette ports.
* Drilling test holes in completed section and carrying out permeability tests to confirm adequacy of grouting work.s
