Soil Engineering are a market leader in stabilisation of mineworkings and underground voiding. Operating from bases in both Scotland and Yorkshire, our extensive fleet is capable of undertaking works ranging from single shaft or house plot treatments, up to major civil engineering and construction scale works.

With over 40 years’ experience in the investigation and stabilisation of mine shafts, mine workings, and other subterranean hazards, Soil Engineering can provide a comprehensive service covering initial investigation, treatment design, treatment, and proofing works, culminating in legislation and planning compliant, fully warranted, and effective schemes.

Our large fleet of drilling rigs is operated by a fully trained and highly experienced workforce, supported by Engineers and Geologists extensive knowledge of their field. The drilling fleet is complemented by our broad range of mixing and delivery plant, all of which is managed and maintained internally by our plant department. Our mixing plant can handle batching from 0.25t to 5t per batch, with a wide range of constituents including PFA, OPC, Sand and Bentonite. We retain a capa\zbility to provide dust free mixing via silo products and digitally controlled mixing systems. For safety, we retain a significant holding of bespoke engineered shaft bridges, allowing works over unstable ground to proceed safely.

Our breadth of experience encompasses treating mineshafts up to 200m in depth, treatment of localised solution features, and treatment footprints ranging from single house plots up to major road and rail schemes. In recent years Soil Engineering have undertaken major bulk infill schemes at Borders Rail, Shieldhall Tunnel, and numerous large housing developments across the Scottish Central belt and Northern England. Our OHSAS 18001, ISO9001, ISO14001 accreditations ensure that our projects are delivered in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, quality and reliability at the fore. As a result, we are capable of safe and effective completion of projects valued in both excess of £5M and under £25K without compromise.
