Tour de Soil Engineering for Mental Health Awareness Week
The “Tour de Soil Engineering” sees the first half of our Safety Days event aligned with Mental Heath Awareness Week in a team challenge supporting MIND across the UK
Mental Health Awareness Week (12th to 18th May) will see Soil Engineering staff and project partners nationwide join forces to ride and walk over 700 miles from our Coatbridge office to the Soletanche Freyssinet HQ in Paris in the Tour de Soil Engineering challenge. Combining offsite activities, and exercise bikes located at office and project sites throughout the country, the challenge will last the whole week.
Mental Health Awareness
A key focus of the VINCI Group’s global Safety Days campaign this year is Mental Health, particularly around supporting colleagues who may be struggling. The Tour de Soil Engineering will be paired with wellbeing awareness and discussion sessions throughout the event, and provide an opportunity for our staff to support each other in a challenge, even when they can’t always be together due to the wide geographical spread of our works. The Safety Days event overall will pair workshops with highlighting ongoing support through our Employee Assistance Programme and Mental Health First Aiders, ensuring support remains visible beyond a one-week event.
Charity Goal
A physical challenge is a great opportunity to raise both awareness and funds, so at the request of our staff we’re pairing the Tour de Soil Engineering with fundraising for MIND. You can join in by clicking here to head over to our fundraising page, where you can also learn more about the work MIND do across the UK.
We’ll be updating on progress throughout the week. Will we make it to Paris? Will we make it all the way “home” again? It’ll take a team effort to get there and hopefully some positive discussions en-route.
