Sonic Drilling “resonates” at Soil Engineering Geoservices
With a recent expansion of our in-house rig fleet from one sonic drilling rig to four, our nationwide capability has never looked better. The acquisition of a second Eijkelkamp Fraste CRS XL140 Duo twin-head rotary/Sonic drilling rig alongside a more compact Eijkelkamp Fraste SRS ML Duo, and the further availability of the Sonic Drill SDC 550 rig provides a serious boost to our already comprehensive offer.
In order to support this major investment in delivering ever improving services to our clients we are also investing in management structure in this area. Ian Swain moves from leading our North of England ground investigation operations to head up our Specialist Geoservices business line, with a key focus on client experience for our drill-only and specialist techniques, which includes our sonic drilling capabilities. In turn, we confirm the appointment of John Ireland as Regional Manager Ground Investigation (North), where he’ll continue to build on Ian’s work with key clients across the region.

Specialist geoservices will deliver standalone services for niche projects, or provide subcontract sonic drilling across the sector. Meanwhile, the expanded fleet provides capacity to integrate the sonic approach into our wider regional and major project offering. With this demand-led investment step we have increased our ability to offer in-house resource as a first option, something we know our clients value.
